You Can Always Ask for Help
You Don’t Have to Do It Alone
If you’ve followed this course, you now know everything you need to pack your home yourself. But here’s the truth we tell every customer: you don’t have to do it all. Professional packing exists for a reason, and sometimes the smartest move is letting someone else handle part — or all — of the job.
When to Consider Professional Packers
Time pressure
- You’re working full-time and can’t take days off to pack
- The completion date was brought forward and you have less time than planned
- You’re juggling childcare, work, and the move simultaneously
Physical limitations
- You have a back injury, mobility issues, or are recovering from surgery
- You’re pregnant or have recently had a baby
- You’re managing a move for elderly parents who can’t pack themselves
Complexity
- You have high-value items — artwork, antiques, musical instruments
- The home is large (4+ bedrooms) and the volume is overwhelming
- You’re moving long-distance and need everything packed to withstand a longer journey
Stress
- Honestly? Some people just don’t want to pack. And that’s completely fine. If the stress of packing is keeping you awake at night, hiring professionals removes that entirely.
What a Professional Packing Service Includes
When you book a packing service with a removal company, here’s what typically happens:
- The team arrives the day before your move (or the morning of, for smaller homes)
- They bring all materials — boxes, paper, bubble wrap, tape, wardrobe boxes, picture boxes. You don’t need to buy anything
- Every room is packed systematically — one room at a time, with each box labelled by room and contents
- Fragile items get professional wrapping — china, glass, electronics, artwork. The techniques we’ve covered in this course, done at speed by people who do it daily
- Your home is ready for the van by the time the packers finish
What it costs
Packing costs vary by home size and location, but as a rough guide:
| Home Size | Typical Packing Time | Approximate Cost |
|---|---|---|
| 1–2 bedroom flat | Half day (1–2 packers) | Contact for quote |
| 3 bedroom house | Full day (2–3 packers) | Contact for quote |
| 4+ bedroom house | Full day (3–4 packers) | Contact for quote |
The cost includes all materials. There are no hidden charges for boxes or tape. See our full pricing guide →
Partial Packing
You don’t have to choose between packing everything yourself and paying for the whole house. Many customers take a middle approach:
- Pack the easy rooms yourself — bedrooms, wardrobes, general storage
- Let the professionals handle the hard rooms — kitchen, study, fragile items
- Focus on specific items — some customers only want us to pack their china, artwork, or electronics
This hybrid approach reduces the cost while still giving you professional protection where it matters most.
Getting a Quote
When you request a packing quote, we’ll want to know:
- Home size — number of bedrooms and approximate volume
- What needs packing — full house, specific rooms, or specific items
- Any specialist items — pianos, artwork, antiques
- Access at both properties — stairs, parking, long carry distances
- Moving date — packing usually happens the day before
A home survey (in person or by video) gives us the most accurate picture. We can then quote for packing, removals, or both together.

Why Customers Choose Professional Packing
- Speed — what takes you a week of evenings takes a team a single day
- Materials included — no shopping for boxes, no guessing quantities
- Insurance — professionally packed items are covered by the removal company’s transit insurance. Self-packed items may not be covered to the same level
- Peace of mind — you know everything is done properly, and you can focus on the hundred other things that need your attention during a move
The Most Important Thing
Whether you pack yourself, hire professionals, or do a bit of both — the most important thing is that your move goes smoothly. That’s what this course is about: giving you the knowledge to make informed decisions and protect your belongings.
If you’ve watched all eleven lessons, you know more about packing than most people who’ve moved five times. Use what you’ve learned, take your time, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
“After all these lessons on how to pack — here's my honest take. About half our customers pack themselves and do a brilliant job. The other half hire us to do some or all of it. Neither is better or worse. What matters is that you make the choice that's right for your situation, your budget, and your stress levels. If packing is making you anxious, pick up the phone. That's exactly what we're here for.”
