Nailsea is a nice area. It's got an affluent feel to parts of it, and we've done some lovely moves there. If you're looking for something outside of Bristol that gives you more property for your money and still keeps you connected to the city, it's a strong option.
The thing we always say to people about Nailsea is this: don't buy on the main road. The A-roads that run through and around the town get busy at rush hour, morning and evening. If you're on one of those roads, you hear the traffic. Get a few streets back and it's completely different — quiet, spacious, with a more countryside feel. That's the one piece of advice we'd give before anything else.
What Makes Moving in Nailsea Different?
The Housing: Mostly Modern, Mostly Easy
It's mostly semi-detached and detached houses in Nailsea — modern builds, a lot of them, the kind that have gone up on the fields surrounding the town as it's grown. From our point of view, these are easy moves. You've got decent road widths, you've often got a driveway to park on, and the houses themselves are uncomplicated — two storeys, sensible hallways, nothing unusual. We don't tend to run into the access problems here that we get in parts of Bristol.
There are some older streets closer to the town centre, a bit narrower, a bit more varied. Still nothing that causes us real trouble. Nailsea is predominantly houses, and that makes life simple.
Getting to Bristol
The roads to Bristol can get congested at peak times — that's true of most of North Somerset. The A370 in particular builds up in the evening. If you're driving to Bristol every day, you feel it. So Nailsea suits people who can work flexibly, or who can use the train. Nailsea and Backwell station is outside town and gets you into Temple Meads in around twenty minutes — that changes the calculation for a lot of people.
For us, it means we time the run from Bristol to hit Nailsea mid-morning. The roads are easy at that point.
The Main Road Warning
This bears repeating because it's the single most useful thing we can tell anyone looking at Nailsea: the properties set back from the A-roads are a different experience from those on them. A few streets' distance makes a real difference to noise, feel, and even the ease of your moving day. We can tell you which streets are good to work in and which need more thought — ask us at survey stage.

Nailsea doesn't give us many war stories. The moves here tend to go smoothly, the people are generally making a smart decision by moving there, and the jobs don't throw up surprises.
"The one thing that matters — and I say this every time — is which street you're on. Get that right, get yourself back from the main road, and Nailsea is a great place to live and an easy place to move to." — Jay Newton, Director
Nailsea sits at the Bristol end of a string of villages and small towns heading southwest toward Clevedon and the coast. We cover all of these and often do moves that connect them — someone leaving Nailsea for Clevedon, or coming in from Backwell. The whole corridor is well within our regular range.
Is Nailsea a Difficult Place to Move?
No. The moves here are among the easier work we do. Modern housing, good access, sensible road widths. The older village core needs a little more thought but nothing that causes concern.

Planning Your Nailsea Move: A Quick Checklist
- Main road or set back? Properties on the A-roads have different noise and access considerations from those a few streets back.
- Rush hour timing? We schedule arrival for mid-morning to avoid the A370 peak congestion.
- Train or road commute? Nailsea and Backwell station is 20 minutes to Temple Meads — worth considering.
- Village core property? Older streets near the centre are narrower — let us assess at survey stage.
- Moving within North Somerset? Nailsea to Clevedon, Portishead, or Long Ashton is all local-rate, one-day work.
