1.Volume of Belongings
This is the single biggest factor. We measure in cubic feet during the survey — not bedrooms. A house full of books, antiques and wardrobes takes longer to wrap, load and unload than one with minimal furniture.
Be cautious of any company that quotes without a survey. If they haven't seen what you own, they're guessing — and that guess usually turns into a surprise on moving day.
2.Distance
A local Bristol-to-Bristol move costs less than Bristol to London. But distance isn't always straightforward — if your move falls on one of our regular corridors (like the M4 to London or M5 to Cornwall), you could benefit from our piggyback pricing.
3.Access at Both Ends

Moving in a Property Chain?
Most house sales in England are part of a chain — a sequence of buyers and sellers who all need to complete on the same day. It's the part of moving that causes the most stress, because you're dependent on other people's solicitors, mortgage lenders and surveyors.
Common pitfalls
- Late keys — Your solicitor says 1pm. Keys don't arrive until 4pm. Your removal crew has been waiting three hours.
- Collapsed chain — Someone at the top of the chain pulls out. Your move may need to go into storage while the chain is rebuilt.
- Simultaneous completions — You need to move out of your old home and into your new one on the same day, often with the previous owners still loading their van.
How we handle it
We allocate the full day to your chain move — we don't rush off to another job. Your dedicated Move Manager stays in contact with your solicitor and the other party's removal company. If keys are late, we're already there.
The Key Wait Waiver
If your move runs past 5pm due to chain delays, overtime charges normally apply (£35 per 30 minutes per crew member). The Key Wait Waiver is a small one-off fee added to your quote that removes overtime charges entirely. Think of it as insurance against the unpredictable.
