This Isn't a Standard House Move. We Know That.

When a resident moves into your care home, they’re leaving a property that may have been their home for 30, 40, even 50 years.

The furniture carries memories. The packing process is overwhelming. And the physical effort of sorting, wrapping, and boxing a lifetime of belongings is simply beyond most elderly residents.

Many families try to manage this themselves — often from a distance, often while working, often with limited time. The result is a stressful, rushed process that makes an already difficult transition harder.

We don’t have a “finish by 3pm” mentality. If your resident needs us to take an extra hour because they want to sit in their garden one last time, we take that hour. The move happens at their pace, not ours.

Professional packing service for elderly residents downsizing

We Pack Everything. Your Resident Doesn’t Lift a Finger.

Clothes, kitchen items, ornaments, framed photographs — everything is carefully packed, labelled, and transported. Fragile items get individual wrapping. Furniture is protected with covers and blankets.

Each box is labelled with its destination: “Care home — bedroom,” “Sarah — London,” “Storage.” Multi-destination delivery is coordinated in a single day.

We Place, Not Just Deliver

We don’t dump boxes in the middle of a room and leave. Furniture is placed where it’s wanted. Beds are assembled. Wardrobes are positioned. The favourite chair goes by the window.

The goal is for your resident to walk into their new room and feel like someone cared about getting it right.

Staged Moves - Because Not Everything Has to Happen at Once

Some residents settle better when the move happens gradually. We can bring the essential furniture first — the bed, the wardrobe, the armchair — and let your resident spend a few days settling in.

Then we return for the rest: the ornaments, the pictures, the personal items. This staged approach reduces overwhelm and lets residents make decisions about what they actually want in their new space after they’ve lived in it, not before.

Everything Handled, From Start to Finish

Full Packing Service

Every room packed professionally. Fragile items individually wrapped. Contents labelled by room, category, and destination.

Multi-Destination Delivery

Some items to the care home. Some to family members. Some to storage. Some to charity. We plan the route and handle all deliveries in one coordinated day.

Furniture Assembly & Placement

Bed assembled, wardrobe positioned, favourite chair placed by the window. We follow the resident’s (or family’s) instructions precisely.

Temporary Storage

If the room isn’t ready yet, or if the family needs time to sort through belongings, we provide secure storage at our Clifton warehouse.

House Clearance

Once the resident has moved, we return to clear the remaining property — responsibly disposing of items, donating where appropriate, and leaving the property ready for sale.

Downsizing Consultation

Our team member Tamara spends time with residents helping them choose what to keep, donate, store, or remove. Patient, personal, and never rushed.

What a Care Home Move Looks Like With Us

Every move is different, but here’s a typical timeline.

1

Week Before the Move

Our Move Manager visits the property (or conducts a video survey) to assess the volume, identify fragile or high-value items, and discuss what’s going where. The resident’s daughter, who lives in London, joins the video call.

2

Day Before

Our packing team arrives. They pack the entire house over 5–6 hours. The resident sits in the living room with a cup of tea while they work. Each box is labelled with its destination.

3

Moving Day

The team arrives at the care home at the time that works best for your staff — not rush hour, not during lunch, not during afternoon activities. Furniture is assembled, belongings are placed, and your staff can check the room before we leave.

4

Same Afternoon

A second delivery takes boxes to the family. Remaining items go to our Clifton warehouse for storage. The resident is already settled in their new room.

5

One Week Later

Our Move Manager follows up with the family and your team to confirm everything arrived safely and the resident is comfortable.

What This Partnership Means for Your Team

You’re already managing the care side of the transition — medical records, medication schedules, dietary requirements, introductions to staff. The last thing your team needs is to also manage the physical move.

By partnering with us, you give your residents’ families a trusted recommendation that removes the moving logistics from everyone’s plate.

What you can tell families:

“We work with a removal company we trust for resident moves. They specialise in downsizing, they pack everything, and they’ll handle the whole process. Here are their details.”

That’s all you need to say. We handle everything from there.

Why Care Homes Choose Us

We learn your building first. Access points, lift restrictions, quiet hours, staff routines — we do a site familiarisation before the first move so we don’t disrupt your operations or your residents.
Our team is selected for temperament, not just strength. We pay above industry standard because we hire for character. They’re patient, respectful, and understand this move isn’t exciting for the resident — it’s significant.
DBS checks available. If your facility requires DBS-checked staff, we can arrange it. All team members carry full public liability and employer’s liability insurance as standard.
One Move Manager, one relationship. The resident (or their family) deals with one person from quote to completion. That person learns their name, understands their situation, and is available to answer questions at any point.
We coordinate with remote families. Often, the resident’s children are managing the move from London, from overseas, from a busy working life. Our Move Manager sends updates, handles details, and provides video walkthroughs of the finished room.
Downsizing support included. Our team member Tamara can spend time with residents, helping them decide what to keep, what to donate, what to store, and what to let go of. Patient, personal, and never rushed.
Priority scheduling when rooms need filling. If a room needs to be turned around quickly, we offer priority booking to get the new resident moved in faster.

“Mum was so worried about the move, but the team were incredibly patient with her. They let her take her time, they placed everything exactly where she wanted it, and they even made her a cup of tea in her new room before they left. I can’t thank them enough.”

Questions Care Home Partners Ask

Can your team work around the care home’s schedule? +
Absolutely. If your reception hours are limited, if there are quiet times to respect, or if the delivery needs to happen within a specific window, we plan around your operations. Our Move Manager coordinates with your staff in advance — we learn your building’s rhythm before the move, not on the day.
What if the resident becomes upset during the packing? +
Our team is trained to pause, give space, and follow the resident’s lead. We’ve handled many emotional moves. If the resident needs a break, we take a break. The schedule adapts to the person, not the other way around.
Can families be involved remotely? +
Yes. Our Move Manager communicates with whoever is coordinating — whether they’re in the same city or on the other side of the world. Video calls, photo updates of the packing progress, and a final walkthrough of the care home room setup are all standard.
What about high-value or sentimental items? +
Items valued over £2,000 should be declared before the move for insurance purposes. We carry £15,000 per van in goods-in-transit cover. For extremely valuable items (antiques, art), we discuss specialist handling during the survey. Irreplaceable personal items — documents, jewellery, medications — should always travel with the resident or their family.
Do you handle the house sale preparation as well? +
We provide a full house clearance service and, through our partnerships, can arrange end-of-tenancy cleaning to prepare the property for sale. We can also coordinate with the family’s estate agent on access and timing.
Are your staff DBS-checked? +
We can arrange DBS-checked staff for care home moves if your facility requires it. All our team members are fully insured with public liability and employer’s liability cover, and are selected for temperament as much as ability.
Can you do a staged move over multiple days? +
Yes — this is something we actively recommend for residents who may find a full move overwhelming. We bring the essentials first, let the resident settle, then return for the rest. It costs a little more but makes a significant difference to the resident’s experience.
How much does a typical care home move cost? +
It varies by property size and distance, but a typical 3-bedroom downsizing move with full packing, multi-destination delivery, and furniture assembly runs between £1,500 and £3,500. We provide a detailed, no-obligation quote after an assessment.
