Jay Newton

Jay's career in the removals industry spans more than twenty years. He began working in the trade long before joining Painless Removals, developing a thorough understanding of every stage of the moving process — from the initial survey through to the final box being placed in a new home. That depth of experience informs the way he runs the company today: with precision, and genuine care for the people trusting him with their possessions.

When the company's founder, Steve Fanger, passed away in 2023, Jay had already been leading the business for four years. The transition was guided by a straightforward principle: preserve the culture of honest, attentive service that Steve had built over four decades, while modernising the business to meet the expectations of today's customers. That has meant investing in fleet upgrades, refining the quoting process, and building a team of professionals who are paid fairly and stay long enough to become genuinely skilled at what they do.

"Steve built something special here. My job is to make sure we keep that same care and attention as we grow. Every customer should feel like we're helping a friend move, not just doing a job."

Bristol's position on the M4 and M5 corridors makes it a natural hub for nationwide moves, and Jay has turned that geography into one of the company's core strengths. Whether a family is relocating from Clifton to Edinburgh or from Southville to the next street over, the same standard of planning and care applies. Jay still personally surveys complex or high-value moves, and he checks in with the team on move days to ensure nothing is left to chance.

Outside of the day-to-day running of the business, Jay is committed to giving back to the Bristol community. The Painless Removals team volunteers annually with St. Peter's Hospice, and the company operates as an accredited Living Wage employer — paying above the industry average because Jay believes that people who feel valued do better work.
